The Apostle Paul in his Epistle to the Romans draws a clear line between two states of man - life according to the flesh and life according to the Spirit. Our thoughts are the main indicator of the state of the soul. Carnal thinking is focused exclusively on earthly goals: comfort, wealth, entertainment and human glory. In contrast, spiritual thinking seeks to know God's will, cares about purity of heart, remembers eternity and serves others out of love for God. Immersion in carnal interests leads to spiritual death and is enmity against God. Even from good human motives, the focus on earthly comfort in defiance of God's plan is a manifestation of the carnal mind, as was the case with the Apostle Peter, when he denied the future suffering of Christ. In contrast, spiritual thought fills the soul with inner peace and gives eternal life. True Christianity consists in the real presence of the Holy Spirit in the heart of man, who becomes an inner Guide. Ignoring conscience and being engrossed in sin quench His action. Since it is impossible to live according to the flesh and according to the Spirit at the same time, a Christian needs constant discipline of thoughts. In communicating with worldly surroundings, it is important to bring spiritual benefit, and if conversations poison the heart or ridicule faith, to withdraw in time. The biblical filter for the mind calls for filling thoughts with what is true, honest, righteous, pure and worthy of praise, as well as seeking Heavenly things, not earthly things. As a result, when a person puts the Kingdom of God first and learns to think spiritually, the Lord provides for his earthly needs and grants eternal blessing.
