French-American actor Jean-Marc Barr speaks about playing Jack Kerouac in the new film Big Sur, directed by Michael Polish. The film is an adaptation of the Beat writer's 1962 novel. In this conversation with library programs manager Grant Rosenberg, Barr also discusses his role in The Big Blue and working with Lars von Trier, as well as the state of independent cinema today. Barr's mention of Steve Allen is a reference to the following clip, which we watched before the discussion began.
