Active monsoon weather is ramping up across Arizona as a newly issued flood advisory takes effect. The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Central Mohave County near Kingman, in effect until 5:30 p.m. Heavy downpours from thunderstorms have already produced up to an inch of rain within 30 minutes in areas near Rincon, prompting warnings of minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. While Tuesday brought a quieter day to the Phoenix area, weather models show that precipitation is expected to increase significantly on Wednesday and Thursday. A low-pressure system moving in from the south near New Mexico and Texas is pushing moisture into the state, creating a classic monsoon setup. The dynamic system brings threats of scattered flash flooding, blowing dust, strong winds, lightning, and potential hail across the state. For those looking for relief from the summer heat, the active weather will bring a welcome drop in temperatures. Highs in Phoenix are forecast to fall below triple digits, dropping to 97 degrees on Friday and 98 degrees on Saturday.
