Are Porn Images Really That Dangerous? Porn is more prevalent today than ever before: Platforms like OnlyFans contribute to sexual content becoming more mainstream, and the boundaries between social networks and pornography are increasingly blurred. Young people also repeatedly encounter sexualized content on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. For some, this is a problem: The more pornographic our digital world becomes, the greater the risk that young people will develop a distorted view of sex and relationships. Critics point out that mainstream porn often conveys unrealistic ideas about bodies, pleasure, and relationships. Others, however, believe that how we deal with porn is crucial. When properly contextualized, it can empower, educate, and provide a space for sexual fantasies. Those who demonize it across the board are more likely to hinder a healthy approach to sexuality.
