Ex. Schaumburg, IL ACA P-50 - Alert & Attack (Death)

Siren met its demise right at 6:00 (CST) Here's a little story on how this siren met such a catastrophic failure. Back when it was in service the rotor sucked in a piece of loose fiberglass, which had got caught in the rotor and stalled the motor, which then the siren was taken put of service. For four hours the SWS guys SirenCon staff were working on the siren and diagnosing any problems with it, unfortunately they may or may not have missed the microfractures in the rotor when it sucked in fiberglass. so as it ran the centrifugal force made the cracks worse, then met it's time and 5 large cracks formed and the motor stalled. You'd think 50HP would tear through the fiberglass it sucked it, but there's more forces going on here other than air drag. SirenCon was a blast! And I hope I get to see all my close friends again next year!
