Canoe Sailing on Hickling Broad. Harnessing the Power of the Wind. Kelly Kettle Sausage Stew.

In this video, I head out to Hickling Broad in the beautiful Norfolk Broads National park to try out my new Solway Dory canoe sailing rig. The rig consists of a 25 sq ft lug sail held in shape with a yard and boom and fixed to a removable mast, a pivoting lee board to enable me to sail to windward and a removal rudder and tiller arm. The whole rig is completely removable for normal paddling and stows away in the canoe, set up and take down takes just a couple of minutes - giving me the option to harness the power of the wind for some serious speed and fun! Canoe sailing is great fun in its own right, but is also very useful in extending range on longer trips and expeditions. I am hoping to make the most of it in an upcoming five day canoe trip in Scotland. I had a fantastic time trying this rig out - pure adrenaline fuelled fun - I’m still grinning from ear to ear now!
