When most people think of the Dominican Republic, they picture all-inclusive resorts, white sand beaches, and Punta Cana… …but hidden in the mountains is a completely different side of the Caribbean. 🌿⛰️ Let's get off the resort and away from the tourist traps. This place felt completely different from the coastal Dominican Republic — cooler mountain air, rivers, pine trees, waterfalls, coffee farms, and peaceful nature everywhere. It honestly didn’t even feel like the Caribbean at times. The combination of mountain views, cool evenings, river sounds, and cozy vibes made this one of the most unique stays we’ve had in the Dominican Republic. The mountain sunset views here are unreal and the atmosphere honestly felt like something out of a movie. Fun fact: Jamaca de Dios features the first revolving-floor restaurant in the Caribbean, sitting high above the Jarabacoa valley with incredible panoramic views. Jarabacoa is quickly becoming one of the top eco-tourism and adventure travel destinations in the Dominican Republic, and after this trip, we completely understand why. Whether you’re into hiking, waterfalls, river rafting, mountain cabins, ATV adventures, coffee farms, or simply escaping the heat (but still hot lol)— this place has a completely different energy from the beach towns most tourists visit.
