This time, we lined up three air-cooled Beetles based on the 1600cc engine, which look similar but are actually quite different, and compared their intake and exhaust sounds. Even though they look alike, the sound changes considerably depending on the engine specifications. Air-cooled Beetles have a certain charm, almost like motorcycles, and the more you work with them, the more you want to drive them. These are the three cars we compared: The first has a standard engine. The second has an engine designed for comfortable city driving. The third has a custom engine with high-cam/twin-carburetor specifications. Even though they are all air-cooled Beetles, you can feel the individuality of each just by listening to the sound, and this video conveys the fun and excitement of working on engines.
