Robert Chen on orchestral audition preparations

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Robert Chen works for over two hours with students playing major orchestral excerpts. Robert demonstrates key elements in developing the character, thoughtful technical approach, paying attention to the composers markings, dynamics and helping to achieve more precise articulation. Robert talks about his studies with Jascha Heifetz and shares memories of the Juilliard School, Aspen Festival and Dorothy DeLay with Dmitri Berlinsky .
