PYTHAGORAS: The Sage of Samos. The Initiate of the Mysteries

In this lecture, “Pythagoras, the Sage of Samos,” Jain describes Pythagoras born around 590 BC in Sidon, Lebanon, as an Initiate of the Mysteries and transmitter of Ancient Wisdom, prophesied at Delphi before birth and trained for 22 years among Egyptian priests before founding his Mystery School in Greece. His community, devoted to both Brotherhood and Sisterhood, practiced a year of fasting and a year of silence as part of the healing teachings of Hygia, revered reincarnation, and carried ancestral memories of persecution from events like the witch-hunts, the burning of the Library of Alexandria, and the drowning of Hippasus after discovering the irrational square root of 2. Though Pythagoras wrote nothing himself, his teachings were preserved in the Golden Verses and later revived by Plato, celebrating symbols like the Blue Pentacle of H-Y-G-I-A, the Tetraktys of ten points encoding the Platonic Solids, and the decagonal essence of DNA. His science of Number extended into music through the Monochord, revealing cosmic ratios, the Music of the Spheres and inspiring tales of calming a wild bear and disarming a violent student through sound. With his understanding of whole-number harmonics and the inherited theorem 3² + 4² = 5² from India and China, Pythagoras became honoured as the Father of Philosophy. In this teaching, Jain highlights how the Pythagoreans honoured Hygia, the Greek goddess of health, by placing her name ΥΓΕΙΑ around the pentagram, a symbol originating in ancient Sumer that later became the Pythagorean “Pentalpha,” embodying the golden ratio, harmony, and the human microcosm. Her name has been associated with the word “hygiene”. Υ (Upsilon) - Γ (Gamma) - Ε (Epsilon) - Ι (Iota) - Α (Alpha) Hygia, was the daughter of Asclepius and was often depicted with a serpent, represented purity and healing. The doubling of this pentagram gives rise to the decagonal structure of DNA, whose 144° angles and golden triangles echo the Pythagorean reverence for “10-ness,” also expressed through the Tetraktys, ten points forming the generative blueprint of the five Platonic Solids and the etheric cosmology encoded in shapes like the dodecahedron. by Jain 108
