Headline 1 Latest wave of US strikes targets Iran’s coastal defenses, missile and drone sites (Jewish News Syndicate) U.S. President Donald Trump ordered more strikes against Iranian regime sites on Monday in response to the Islamic Republic’s attacks on civilian-manned commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. “More than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed across the Middle East. American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready,” CENTCOM stated. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responded to the latest U.S. strikes by attacking Bahrain, Jordan and three tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, it said. ... Trump told Hugh Hewitt on Monday that Pickaxe Mountain, an underground nuclear facility in Iran, remained “a possible target for a nice, big, fat shot right in the front door.” “I think that you’ll, maybe you’ll see that. I’ll tell them right now. Look, the fact is they have no air force. They have no navy. They have no nothing. All they do is talk, and they have fake press,” the president said. “We’re going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians to be ready.” Earlier on Monday, Trump told Fox News that the United States will be “taking over” the Strait of Hormuz. ... He said that America is reimposing the Iranian blockade, “so named because it is only stopping Iran’s ships or customers from entering or leaving. All other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait.” However, Washington will charge 20% on all cargo shipped, plus “costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the World,” Trump added. There’s a number of things that we learn from this story... The US continues to pound Iran hitting hundreds of strategic targets. More than 50,000 U.S. soldiers are in the area, ready to fight... The blockade of Iranian ships has been put back into place Hormuz will now be in control of the United States The US will charge ships a 20% fee for going through Hormuz. Pickaxe Mountain, where Iran continues to secretly work on enriching uranium will be hit hard These facts show that the war is continuing in full force. Iran will not be able to have any response to these changes. The big question now is this: How far will the US go? Headline 2 Iran Failed Trump's Test (Gatestone) Trump... gave the remnants of the regime a final chance: step back, accept restraint, and choose coexistence over confrontation. Iran failed that test. The regime did not moderate. It did not reassure its neighbors. It did not abandon its hostility toward Israel. It did not choose prosperity for the Iranian people. It returned to its usual methods: missiles, drones, threats, blackmail, and violence. Trump did not abandon diplomacy. Iran destroyed it. ... The question of the Iranian regime itself is different. That has now become a matter of American national security. A dictatorial regime that publicly tolerates calls for the assassination of the president of the United States cannot be treated as just another difficult adversary. A red line has been crossed. No dictator, militia leader, or revolutionary movement should believe that threatening an American president and his family can be dismissed... The survival of this regime, in its current form, is incompatible with regional peace, nuclear restraint, freedom of navigation, Israel's security, Gulf stability, and American interests. A political transition in Iran is no longer a radical idea. It is the most reasonable strategic outcome. Trump gave Tehran a chance. Tehran failed. Now he must finish what he began. Every dictatorship is watching. If Iran can threaten an American president, attack American partners, endanger international trade, and survive with limited consequences, others will draw the wrong lesson.
