In today’s video, I’m bringing regular Samurott into Scarlet and Violet OU to show it can still put in serious work, even in a tier full of modern powerhouses. Most players expect Samurott to be physical, which is exactly why this Choice Specs set is so dangerous. A lot of opponents see Samurott and assume a physical set, especially since Hisuian Samurott is far more common and shapes how people think about the line. This version takes advantage of that expectation by going fully special with Choice Specs, turning Samurott into a breaker that can punish the wrong switch immediately. Surf gives it a strong and reliable STAB move, Ice Beam nails common Grass and Dragon targets, Grass Knot helps punish bulky Water- and Ground-types, and Vacuum Wave gives the set useful priority to pick off weakened threats. Tera Fighting also powers up Vacuum Wave, which can create clutch endgame moments once opposing teams have been chipped. The goal is not to hide Samurott forever. The goal is to use its unfamiliarity to force one or two bad assumptions, claim major damage, and crack open the opposing core early enough for the rest of the team to capitalize. It does not need to clean every game.
