Two Perspectives, One Story
Welcome to Hear the Story, a podcast from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust where we share real experiences that bring trauma informed and equitable care to life In our first episode • Introducing ‘See The Story’ , we introduced the people leading this work and explored how taking the time to understand someone's experiences can transform the way care is delivered and received. In this episode, we hear from two people connected by the same service, but from very different perspectives. Nikki is a former service user who now works for the Trust. Rachel is a clinician from the Complex Emotional Needs Service. Together, they reflect on Nikki's experiences of accessing support, the impact trauma had on her journey, and how those experiences influenced her decision to pursue a career in healthcare. Rachel also shares her perspective on how services have evolved over time, the learning that has shaped change, and the role trauma informed approaches play in building stronger relationships and improving outcomes for the people we support. Through their conversation, we explore the power of lived experience, the importance of listening to people's stories, and how understanding the whole person can help create more compassionate and effective care. We hope you enjoy the episode. If you have a question or topic you would like us to explore in a future episode, please contact us at: [email protected]
