Uracoan Rattlesnake Litter!

Spring has sprung, and we’ve already gotten a litter of rattlesnakes at the ranch! Specifically, we got a litter of Crotalus vegrandis - which are more commonly known as Uracoan rattlesnakes. These very well-mannered rattlesnakes are a particularly unique species hailing from a small region in Venezuela. Watch this video as we carefully pull each snake from their enclosure to see what we ended up with – one baby in particular is a stunner! For those interested in some data, we’ve had this pair for about 4 years. They cohabitate together year-round, a successful lock between the pair was witnessed August 14th, 2024, and they birthed 7 healthy neonates on April 2nd, 2025. It’s worth noting that we had the first storm in a while pass through that very day and they were born that night, which may or may not be a coincidence. They live in a 42”x24”x12” enclosure with warm (85-90F) and cool (70-75F) hide options, a daily 2-hour basking option, and always a clean water bowl. We wet the bedding to bump up humidity weekly, and our dry AZ air allows things to completely dry up between each soaking. #uracoanrattlesnakes #crotalusvegrandis #venomous #captivebreeding #rattlesnakezoo
