The olive orchard in hedgerows as a transformative lever for the worldwide olive sector
Over the last ten years, there has been a trend in agriculture supported by this type of innovation in crops. It has led to permanent woody crop cultivation increasing its global surface area to more than 36%, going from 132.4 million acres in 2000 to 178.3 million acres in 2019. The surface area of olive orchards has also grown, supported by this innovation. This figure has risen from 56.1 million acres across 57 countries in 2012 to today's 28.7 acres across 66 nations.
