Hey there, neighbors, coming here with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System here on our boat trailer. So our neighbor today is a fellow employee. She was out with her pontoon boat, and on the way back home, she ended up having a blowout, completely destroyed the fender on the passenger side. What ended up happening once we got everything off and took a look at it, was that one of the bearings seized up, exploded, just welded itself to the spindle, and pretty much ruined that axle at that point. So she was in need of a replacement axle. On top of that, she wanted to go with some bigger wheels because she had some really small ones before, it just looked a little ridiculous and kind of wasn't the safest option for how much weight she's gonna be putting on here once she loads everything else up onto the boat and goes out on her trips. So she decided on going with the Timber and Axle-Less System because that's gonna give her a little bit more ground clearance now, because now, we don't have that axle tube sitting super low, we don't have our leaf spring suspension in the way, now, we just have our Timbrens here. And these are also gonna come with some jounce springs built into it, so you'll see the big, large Aeon jounce spring in the center here. So anytime our suspension compresses, it's going to crush down on that jounce spring, and the jounce springs gonna wanna push it right back out. We also have a rebound spring on the other side of that to kind of help counteract that. So not only are we getting better ground clearance, we're now also getting a better ride quality overall. Now,, each one of these is going to be rated for a different capacity, so you will wanna make sure that you are picking out the correct one to replace your current setup. So in our case, we had 3,500 pound axle, we went with a 3,500 pound set of Timbrens here. There's also gonna be options where you can get a drop, so that way if you need a little bit more clearance, you wanna get that larger tire on. Maybe this isn't a boat trailer, maybe you're throwing this onto a little teardrop trailer, an enclosed trailer that you're wanting to get way off the ground 'cause you're taking it off off-roading and just need that clearance. Timbren's got you covered. There you have a bunch of different options for you so that way you can get exactly what you need for your specific trailer setup. As far as the installation goes, this one is pretty tough. Typically, what you see, especially with the research I've done, most people aren't retrofitting this onto a trailer. They're usually building a trailer with the sole intention of these being your suspension. Usually it's your off-roading people, your rock crawlers, stuff like that, that are really wanting to use the Timbrens just because that's essentially what they're designed for, and that's in their market for it. So you will want to have have a cross beam in the same area as your spindle here. So that's gonna help kind of prevent it from trying to warp the frame. In our case, we didn't have that, so we needed to throw in a two by two steel beam. So we've got that in place and that's just gonna slot right in, you'll have to drill through, you can see the two bolts we got in there, and that locks that right into place. Although with the tension that's on it, it really isn't going to move anyway. Other than that, it is a lot of drilling, and it's really big holes that you're having to drill, so you wanna make sure you have a really good bit set because you got all hardened steel here that you're gonna have to drill through. So I spent quite a while doing this. In my case, I had a little bit of extra stuff I had to do because I was also cutting off the fenders since we we inchesre sizing up with the wheels, and the fender over on that side was completely demolished. So I did a lot of body work here, just kind of trying to cut all that off and grind it down. Yours, obviously, would be a little bit easier if you don't have mess to clean up first. But this is one, like I said, where you're gonna spend a lot of time on it. So you will wanna make sure you get all your measurements correct. They've got a great instruction set for you where they've got all of these diagrams showing you exactly how to measure, especially if you're the person who's building a trail
