Fındıklı Mayor Ercüment Şahin Çervatoğlu confronted employees of a company conducting unauthorized mining exploration in Fındıklı's Çağlayan Valley. Çervatoğlu reacted by telling the employees, "On whose behalf are you working? You can't come and work on our land as you please. We will confiscate the stones you've taken, and I will ensure your safety. I am the mayor; no one else will engage in any negative behavior."
