Malvinas | Desobedeciendo a los jefes para salvar camaradas

Insubordination to his direct superiors, who ordered him to abandon his comrades trapped in a British firing ring, Corporal Juan Antonio Barroso inscribed a heroic and unprecedented chapter in the history of the 6th Infantry Regiment. During the night of June 12-13, this 21-year-old corporal remained on the front lines, covering the retreat of Corporal First Class Irigoitía's riflemen on Mount Dos Hermanas and providing fire support to a company of the 4th Regiment. To accomplish this, he made a superhuman effort: he aimed and fired his mortar as if it were a rifle, operating it with his bare hands rather than using cranks. This increased his rate of fire. His feat is virtually unknown, while the unrealistic and fanciful account given by Private Oscar Poltronieri, from the same company, has unfortunately been widely disseminated. "Barroso isn't exaggerating in the slightest in this account," testifies Second Lieutenant Aldo Franco. Camera and editing: Sin Bonfietti. Post-production: Niki Kasanzew.
