A Role for Nuclear Power in the Energy Transition?
Presentation by Dr Richard W. Freer OBE, Managing Director, Public Infrastructure Australia, Bechtel Australian Nuclear Association ANA2024 Conference at UTS Aerial Centre, Ultimo, NSW, on Friday 11 October 2024. ABSTRACT Many countries around the world are considering how best to transition their electricity generation sector to meet short- and medium-term carbon reduction targets. A central issue is how best to ensure continuity of supply as additional renewable power is added to the grid, and the extent to which nuclear power might play a role in this. The talk will review international developments in the nuclear power sector and emphasise the importance of effective project delivery in whatever energy mix is selected.
