UNBELIEVABLE UMBELIFERAS
These fabulous beauties add an ephemeral dynamism to borders, woodland, gravel or meadows. Bunny trots through her nine reliable favourites that flourish in her garden, tells you how to grow them, to dead head when necessary and how to propagate them. Cow Parsley, often a lovable thug, can not be ignored, but Baltic or Chelsea Cow Parsley is a tamer, better behaved relative, so named as it frequently pops up in designers’ gardens at the show. Bunny’s favourite is probably Molopospermum Peloponnesiacum, which in her experience survives intense drought and loves moist conditions too, reliably coming back every year. These plants are now part of the Apiaceae family and are a magnet for insects - the name ‘umbellifer’ came from their charming umbrella like flowers. #umbeliferas #garden
