How to become an Ophthalmologist

Watch this video if you are interested in Ophthalmology and have wondered how to become an Ophthalmologist - eye doctor or eye surgeon. In summary, after medical school, you would spend 2 years as a junior (foundation) doctor then apply for ophthalmology specialty training (see video link below for a separate video about that). Ophthalmology is 7 years run-through. you would then sub-specialise, working with one area of the eye during a fellowship and then apply for a Consultant post. Training can be prolonged with time out for family, research or to gain further experiences abroad for example.
