DIY Peristaltic Pump Made from Scrap Metal and Car Window Motor

In this video, I show how I built a homemade peristaltic pump using simple materials and basic workshop tools. A peristaltic pump moves fluid by compressing a flexible tube, meaning the liquid never comes into contact with the pump’s mechanical parts. This makes it ideal for clean, contamination-free fluid transfer. These pumps can handle a wide range of liquids, including viscous fluids and those containing small particles. They are self-priming, can run dry without damage, and require minimal maintenance since the tube is the only wearable part. Peristaltic pumps also provide accurate and controlled flow, making them useful for dosing, laboratory applications, chemical transfer, and DIY projects. The pump is made from a few pieces of steel sheet, standard bearings, flexible tubing, and a car window motor for the drive system. I started by designing and cutting the metal parts, then assembling the roller mechanism using bearings to compress the tube evenly. The frame and rotor were fabricated from scrap metal, making this a low-cost and practical DIY project. A car window motor was used to provide smooth and reliable rotation. Peristaltic pumps are great because the liquid only touches the tube, making them ideal for clean, precise, and low-maintenance fluid transfer.
