Protesters from the People's Action Movement Against Injustice (GAUM-K) and the Reclaiming of People's Sovereignty (GMKR) held a demonstration in front of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building on Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung City, on Tuesday (July 14, 2026). The demonstration was held to reject the planned political trip of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to West Java. During the demonstration, the protesters conveyed several demands, including a request that Jokowi not visit West Java. The protest's field coordinator, Hari Nugraha, stated that the rejection was based on his group's views regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding Jokowi's diploma. "Why are we holding this demonstration? Because we are concerned, and we know that Mr. Jokowi remains legally in limbo. When he was mayor, governor, and even president of the Republic of Indonesia, he couldn't show his diploma. So, this is lying to the people, lying to the community, lying to the nation," said Hari. Hari emphasized that his group rejects the arrival of Jokowi, his family, and any parties deemed affiliated with him in West Java. "Therefore, we, the people of West Java, and on behalf of the people of West Java, represent that we do not want the land of West Java to be trampled upon by Mr. Jokowi, his children, and his cronies, let alone them becoming the rulers of Indonesia again," he said. Our clear demand is that Mr. Jokowi be barred from the land of West Java. Because we, the people, do not want that. So, wherever Mr. Jokowi appears, we refuse. From the western tip of West Java to the eastern tip of West Java, we refuse to allow the land of West Java to be trampled upon by Jokowi and his family," Hari said. Furthermore, Hari reiterated the controversy surrounding Jokowi's diploma and argued that the issue should be resolved transparently. "The reason is clear. Jokowi himself, when he was a ruler, a leader, a public figure, a public leader, was legally invalid because he could not produce his diploma. "Even his diploma is clearly fake and doesn't reflect the truth," he stressed. "And to this day, Jokowi's statesmanship is being questioned.
