Fixing an RC Charger for My DIY Radio Power Project. In today’s video, I repair a faulty RC battery charger that powers on but won’t detect or charge a battery. After opening it up and doing some troubleshooting with the multimeter, I track the issue down to a blown 30 amp onboard fuse. Instead of throwing the charger away, I attempt a simple repair using parts I already had in the workshop. Once repaired, I test the charger on multiple lithium batteries, including a LiPo and a 4-cell LiFePO4 pack, and bring it back to life. I also explain what may have caused the failure in the first place — possibly capacitor inrush current when connecting larger battery packs. This charger is going to be part of an upcoming DIY portable charging station project for handheld radios and transceivers, so I’m glad to get it working again instead of buying a new one.
