Paul VanderKlay sits down with Craig Biddle to discuss whether we should uncritically accept ideas we were raised with. I react. VanderKlay, to his credit, is genuinely trying to steelman the skeptical position and engage it seriously. Biddle is very confident. He discovered Ayn Rand at some point and has been epistemically liberated ever since. The core irony on the table: "think for yourself" is arguably the most unexamined inherited belief in the modern West. The people most insistent that you question your tradition are usually just offering you a different one with worse (often no) explanations in return. "We must question everything!" says Biddle... except his questioning...
