WHY I LEFT AUSTRALIA | Working Holiday Visa REALITY + Big Life Update

The time has come - I'm no longer in Australia. I moved to Australia in February 2023 with a working holiday visa but I left after 7 weeks. I see a lot of posting online glamourising the move to Australia and whilst it really does work out for some people I ended up feeling really unhappy so I left. This is an insight into the expectation vs reality of working and living in Australia and I do not want to dissuade people but this is my experience and feelings. The rental crisis, cost of living, over saturation of working holiday makers and not enough jobs in cities whilst being on the other side of the world away from my friends and family really got to me. I flew to Bangkok and spent a week catching up with friends and relaxing and having a massive water fight at the first Songkran Thailand has had in 3 years! I flew back home to Scotland and thought I was going to live in Dublin for an internship - but then got a job offer I couldn't refuse in London!
