Lung Phin commune is located on the Dong Van Karst Plateau in Ha Giang province, at an average altitude of 1,000–1,600 meters above sea level. The climate is harsh, the land is arid, and it is surrounded by rocky mountains. The Shan Tuyet tea plants have been companions to the people for hundreds of years, so long that even locals like Mr. Po, when asked, cannot say exactly when they originated. From birth to adulthood and old age, Mr. Ly My Po, a Mong ethnic man, has seen the tea plants firmly rooted in the rocky soil. He has also witnessed ancient tea trees die, and saplings sprout naturally or are planted to replace them. Like people, they thrive and grow strong amidst the harshness of nature.
