FIESTAS DE ROLDANILLO 2026 (Valle del Cauca, Colombia)
In southwestern Colombia, near the Western Cordillera, lies the municipality of Roldanillo, located in the northern part of the Valle del Cauca department. Known as "The Land of the Soul," this municipality, privileged by its landscape, climate, and cultural identity, combines the tranquility of a traditional town with a vibrant tourism scene that attracts travelers from Colombia and around the world. Roldanillo, Valle del Cauca, was founded on January 20, 1576. At the end of January 2026, the Municipal Government celebrated the 47th edition of its Fair and Carnival, a grand festival commemorating its 450-year history. The Roldanillo festivities celebrated this anniversary with a cultural and artistic program that, combined with the hospitality of its people, embraced both locals and tourists with a contagious festive spirit. The parades filled the streets with life. One of the most vibrant was the Silleteros Parade. Brought directly from the municipality of Santa Elena, in the department of Antioquia, they paid homage to tradition, painting the streets of Roldanillo with color and symbolism. Although this practice has Antioquian roots, the parade became a gesture of admiration from the public. Each silleta, created with shapes and colors inspired by the natural richness of the Cauca Valley, was more than a floral arrangement: a memory woven with petals, a tribute to the land and the peasant legacy that beats in “The Land of the Soul.” And if there was anything that awakened the joy of the people during Roldanillo's 450th anniversary, it was Rolda Carnaval. A colorful moment that filled the streets with troupes, rhythm, and folklore, solidifying itself as a symbol of cultural expression. Rolda Carnaval captures the festive essence of the municipality: a celebration where spontaneity and tradition blend between generations in a single march of colors. Here, it's not just about observing the spectacle; People participate, dance, and share the excitement of celebrating together the popular identity of a town proud of its history. Another venue admired by the public during the Roldanillo festivities was the Fairgrounds Coliseum. Transformed into a vibrant and lively epicenter of activity, it was a meeting point for residents and tourists during this festival that integrates tradition, the local economy, and culture. Livestock and equestrian exhibitions were held there, reflecting the agro-industrial vocation of the Valle del Cauca region. The livestock show highlighted the work of the producers, who presented specimens that demonstrate the effort of the countryside and its contribution to the rural economy. The equestrian exhibition emphasized the elegance and skill of the horses, evaluated by their conformation and gait, with awards recognizing important breeders. The Fairgrounds Coliseum also offered activities for all audiences, especially families: business and craft exhibits, artistic activities, and children's entertainment. There were also free concerts and typical cuisine, showcasing local flavors and creations. In the north of Valle del Cauca, a town steeped in history, art, and traditions rises: ROLDANILLO, the first “Magical Town” of Colombia. The artistic heart of the municipality is the Rayo Museum, one of the main cultural engines of the region and a source of national pride. Founded by the Colombian artist Omar Rayo in 1981, it houses one of the most extensive collections of graphic and modern art in Colombia and Latin America, connecting artists, visitors, and art lovers. During 2026, the Rayo Museum celebrates 45 years of cultural legacy with exhibitions that include paintings and sculptures, educational programs, workshops, and activities open to all audiences. This place, where the remains of the master Omar Rayo rest, is more than a museum: it is a living space of history and creation, which has made ROLDANILLO an essential cultural destination for national and international tourists. A work that embodies memory, identity, and hope is The Obelisk. A commemorative monument marking 450 years of Roldanillo's history. Its 10-meter-high structure represents the identity of a town that honors its past and its vision for the future. The surrounding park, with benches shaped like open books, transforms it into an urban heart for conversation and contemplating art. In a symbolic act, a time capsule containing photographs, objects, and testimonies from 2025 was sealed, destined to be opened in 2076, when the municipality celebrates its 500th anniversary. Today, The Obelisk is a meeting point for locals, visitors, and tourists, where culture, tourism, and hope converge, reminding us that history...
