Lucas Neill hits out at Mark Bosnich
As Australia prepared on Monday to take on Canada in an international friendly at Craven Cottage, west London, captain Lucas Neill said that Australian coaches needed to improve and younger players needed to show more hunger to play for 'the Socceroos'. Neill was in a bullish mood on Monday and addressed a number of issues affecting 'the Socceroos' ahead of his side's international friendly against Canada the following night. Following their 6-0 loss to France in Paris on Friday evening, Australia dismissed Holger Osieck, the coach who had successfully guided them to next year's World Cup finals in Brazil. The country's skipper then called on more Australian coaches to challenge themselves by managing abroad and competing in Europe. Neill argued the players had done just that in the past to improve and so should the coaches. Former Australia goalkeeper Mark Bosnich called on Neill to step down from his role following France's win, but the 35-year-old was not in a mood for retreating from his responsibility as he also reiterated his desire to continue leading his country. Neill then turned his attention to the younger footballers in the national team set-up and said the fringe players needed to show more hunger and a better attitude towards the national team.
