At the excavation site of King Muryeong's Tomb and Royal Tomb Garden No. 1-4 in Gongju-si, Geumseong-dong, San 5-17, a public briefing session on the results of the re-investigation was held for the general public. The public briefing session, held over two days on June 18 and 19, was conducted so that the inside of the stone chamber of Tomb No. 1 and the investigation status of Tomb No. 2-3 could be seen in person. The event was led by Oh Dong-seon, a curatorial researcher at the National Buyeo Cultural Research Institute who directly participated in the excavation! 🔨 This excavation is very significant in that it is the first time in 100 years since the Japanese looting of King Muryeong's Tomb and Royal Tomb Garden. In addition, through a forensic examination of the molars discovered in Tomb No. 2, we were able to determine that the owner of the tomb was King Samgeun, an unfortunate king who died at a young age. 🔬 The gold earrings and jade ornaments excavated together show that Baekje during the Ungjin period, which was considered a period of chaos, had a close relationship with Silla and traded with Southeast Asia. The results of this excavation were significant.
