The Department of Art History and Art Criticism of the Russian Academy of Arts presents a lecture by Yulia Evgenyevna Revzina, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts and a candidate of art history, on the topic: "The Architecture of Churches of the Italian Renaissance and Neo-Renaissance in the 19th Century." The Italian Renaissance became, in many ways, the starting point for the development of the European classical tradition of the modern and contemporary periods, gifting these eras with a new interpretation of the legacy of antiquity. Humanist ideals, the revival of the ancient heritage, and the creation of a new spatial image of the world became the foundation of Italian Renaissance architecture. One of the most important spheres in which Renaissance humanist ideals found their visible expression was the church. Therefore, the church became one of the most striking embodiments of the new architectural order of the Italian Renaissance. This lecture is dedicated to the church, which reflects the contents of the chapter "The House of the Lord" in the recently published monograph by Yu.E.
