Evelyn Garcia and Henry Lu, the chefs behind Houston's JŪN, have earned one of the restaurant industry's highest honors—the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Texas. Today, they will join us and share their story on how they went from ambitious newcomers to the top of Texas' culinary world in just three years. Then, SNAP Director at the Food Research and Action Center Gina Plata-Nino will discuss the restrictions on SNAP benefits in Texas. Just in time for the upcoming July 4th holiday, Director of Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens Daniel Kurt Ackermann will tell us about their exhibit “George Washington: America’s Enduring Icon” which is on view now through November 22nd.
