This project, developed modularly in Siemens TIA Portal, is an automated solution for the efficient and safe management of an industrial pumping station (e.g., a crude oil sump for pipelines). The program implements advanced level control logic for a storage tank, operating with two pumps in an alternating configuration. Key Program Features: Alternating Pump Management (Lead/Lag): The program automatically rotates the main (master) pump in each work cycle, ensuring even wear on the drive equipment and extending its lifespan. Automatic Level Control: Regulates the start and stop of the pumps based on signals from the tank's high and low level sensors, maintaining the fluid within safe parameters. HMI/SCADA Integration: All control logic is designed to be monitored and controlled from a graphical user interface (HMI), displaying real-time status, alarms, and time accumulators. Advanced Protection and Safety: To guarantee the system's mechanical integrity and operational safety, redundant protections have been implemented: Integrated Thermal Protection: Continuously monitors the thermal confirmation (motor protection circuit breakers) of each motor. In the event of an overload or overheating, the PLC immediately stops the affected pump and prevents it from restarting, triggering an alarm. Flow Protection (Run-Dry/Lockout): By reading flow sensors, the program verifies that the pump is effectively moving fluid after startup. If a lack of flow is detected during operation (preventing dry running), the PLC shuts down the pump to prevent catastrophic damage. In summary, this program provides a reliable, robust, and scalable solution for fluid management in critical industrial environments, minimizing downtime and optimizing electromechanical resources.
