TRVE INTERVIEW : MATT ELLIOTT

ENGLISH Today we're revealing a new Trve Interview with Matt Elliott, a musician who is part of the line-up for the E.P. that will accompany the Core Book. Like many people, I discovered Matt Elliott with the album Drinking Song while wandering on Youtube. Since then, his music has haunted me and accompanied my writing. It plays over and over again, forming a loop, drawing out the emotion I've been hiding deep down so that I can put it down on paper. I've often been asked why MIR's characters are so damaged and neurotic. I don't have an answer: to me, they're honest, desperately honest. A bit like the guy who's been crying listening to the same album for five hours. Asking Matt to be part of the E.P. was an obvious choice for me, because even if he doesn't do Black Metal, or even Metal at all, Matt is at the heart of MIR's genesis. He may not have written it, but he gave birth to it. This video reflects our feelings. Simple, sensitive and unvarnished. We hope this piece of intimacy will explain better than clumsy words the essence of MIR and what this project means to us. Comme beaucoup de personne j'ai découvert Matt Eliott avec l'album Drinking Song en errant sur Youtube. Depuis ce temps sa musique me hante et m'accompagne dans mon écriture. Elle passe et repasse, forme une boucle, m'extirpe l'émotion que je dissimule au plus profond de moi pour me permettre de la coucher sur le papier. On m'a souvent demandé pourquoi les personnages de MIR étaient autant blessé et névrosé. Je n'ai pas de réponse à ce sujet : pour moi ils sont honnêtes, désespérément honnête. Un peu comme le type qui pleure en écoutant le même album depuis cinq heures. Demander à Matt de faire partie de l'E.P était pour moi une évidence, même s'il ne fait pas du Black Metal, voir du Metal tout court, Matt est au coeur de la génèse de MIR. S'il n'en est pas l'auteur, il l'a fait accoucher. Cette vidéo se veut à l'image de notre ressenti. Simple, sensible et sans fard. On espère que ce morceau d'intimité expliquera mieux que des mots maladroits le fond de MIR et ce que ce projet représente pour nous.
