“Mijn verslaving kostte €365.000”

(How do you help yourself when someone you love is addicted? And how can you truly be there for them? 👉 Do you have a loved one who is addicted!? 💡 https://www.vanverslavingnaarvrijheid...) Ruud started using cocaine when he was fourteen. What began as excitement and bravado quickly became a brutal addiction. In ten years, he blew through over €365,000. "Earned" through robberies, drug smuggling, and receiving stolen goods. Fifteen of his friends are gone. Shot or died of an overdose. Ruud himself narrowly escaped death several times. His lowest point came when his mother, the founder of Courageous Mothers, decided it was enough. When he came for money again, she said no. And shortly after, she placed an ad with his picture in the newspaper, with the caption: "My son is a drug addict." That courageous act marked the beginning of his recovery. After an intensive period in a Scottish clinic, Ruud is now clean. He lives in Purmerend, works, has a girlfriend, and lives with the consequences of his addiction, both financially and physically. The temptation is still there, but he chooses recovery every day. An intense and honest conversation about addiction, courage, boundaries, and the strength of a mother who saved her son by letting him go. 🎧 Listen to Ruud's powerful story in "From Addiction to Freedom."
