Wits AI & African Music Pilot – Industry Showcase Contributors Nick Argyros (South Africa) is a creative and technology entrepreneur at the intersection of music and AI. He is the co-founder and Group CEO of INJOZI Technology Studio, Audio Militia and GotBot AI, spanning digital production, music and audio work, and AI products. His work sits across creative production and applied machine-learning, bringing a practical industry lens to how AI tools are built and adopted in creative markets. Martha Huro (Kenya) is a music-tech and brand marketing executive focused on growing digital music audiences and building partnerships across East Africa. Formerly Managing Director, East Africa and General Manager, Kenya for Transsnet Music Limited (Boomplay), where she served until December 2024, she brings over a decade of experience across music, technology and service industries. Her career includes roles at Neo Marketing, Mdundo, Despec and Boomplay, leading product launches, activations and partnerships for major regional brands. Thando Makhunga (South Africa) is a South African music publishing executive and thought leader. She is Managing Director of Downtown Music Publishing Africa, where she drives strategic growth, deal-making and catalogue development, and advocates for the rights of African creators. She also serves on the board of CAPASSO, chairs the Music Publishers Association of South Africa, and holds leadership roles spanning music ecosystems and youth development through her work with RAD (Rise Above Development). Ninel Musson (South Africa) is a creative entrepreneur and culture investor, strengthening Africa’s music and creative economy. Founder and CEO of the Music Business Lab, she develops emerging music industry professionals through training and certified, locally grounded courses. She co-founded Vth Season – award-winning independent record label and artist management agency – and has contributed to sector leadership through roles such as Deputy Chair, Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) MODERATOR : Christo Doherty (South Africa) is the Acting Angela and David Fine Chair in Innovation at the Wits Innovation Centre, leading Innovation Research and Development across the university. He created the ArtSci4Innovation programme linking artists and scientists, serves as the academic co‑ordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and is Wits MIND Scientific Advisory Committee member and Fellow.
