Guntupalli caces were carved earlier than ajantha and ellora caves. Guntupalli is called Andhra Ajantha. Bouddha caves, Aaramas, Sthupas and Chaityas present on the hill top of Guntupalli dates back to the 3rd century B.C to the 3rd century A.D. As there were no Buddha statues and decorative carvings in aaramas, it is understood that they belonged to heenayana period. One guhalayam is called the Dharmalingeswara swamy temple.
