Architectural Theory: Morphosis
Talk 22: Morphosis Architectural Theory I with Larry Speck This lecture series helps students become better designers by identifying values, principles, perspectives, and ideas that can guide and inspire their design. The connection between theory and design is examined through the work of about twenty key architects from the 20th and early 21st centuries. By engaging with these ideas and works, students are encouraged to reflect on their own backgrounds and values to identify approaches they feel strongly about as an inspiration for their design work. Larry Speck is a Design Principal for the architectural firm, Page. He is also an educator, having taught at M.I.T, University of Western Australia and University of Texas at Austin. He served as Dean of the School of Architecture at UT Austin 1992-2001. In the last 25 years, Speck’s design work has won over 120 design awards—30+ from the AIA. He has received over 40 teaching awards including the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion.
