AQUILA 50 Sail - 28 minute private tour, with Alain Raas

Boatscopy takes us aboard the new Aquila 50 Sail, presented at the International Multihull Boat Show in La Grande-Motte, for its European premiere. Guided by Nicolas and Alain Raas, Global Brand Director of Aquila, this episode introduces a major milestone for the shipyard: Aquila’s first sailing catamaran. Known worldwide for its power catamarans, Aquila now brings its experience, construction quality and sense of innovation to the sailing market. The Aquila 50 Sail combines a strong cruising spirit with bold design choices, including distinctive hull windows, a fixed forward cockpit instead of a traditional trampoline, and direct “bridge-to-bow” access from the flybridge. These features create several generous social areas, from the aft cockpit and flybridge to the impressive bow lounge. Alain Raas explains the boat’s construction, based on vinylester resin infusion and an all-composite structure, with no structural wood. The yacht is designed to be stiff, comfortable and practical for long-range cruising. Inside, the saloon offers panoramic views, a large galley, a convertible dining area and a true home-like atmosphere. The episode also highlights the hybrid propulsion option, the Aquila Hybrid Ocean Drive powered by Torqeedo, with electric saildrives, a large propulsion battery and automatic generator management. Under sail, the Aquila 50 Sail is presented as a comfortable, safe cruising catamaran capable of good performance in both strong and light winds. With spacious cabins, private entrances, excellent storage and several layout options, this new model marks an ambitious new chapter for Aquila.
