How to PLOT stress-strain curves in #ABAQUS - Part 1

ABAQUS Tips and Tricks #2: This video shows part 1 of how to plot the stress-strain curves from an #ABAQUS simulation. This video uses the strategy described as volume averaging which is a homogenization method where all the stresses and strains in the model are independently summed and divided by the number of the elements in the model (volume averaging). This is a homogenization approach and gives a generalized stress-strain curve for the material. This has been illustrated using a perforated steel block and detailed steps shown how to generate the stress-strain plot. A major limitation to this method is that it is computationally intensive as you will averaging over the whole of the elements in the model. If you have models with 100,000 elements and over, you will run out of memory and ABAQUS will not be able to provide you a solution. Also, you can only track a few model variables i.e. one or two components of stress and strain per time so that you can keep the computational cost down. #ABAQUSTipsAndTricks, #cmvideos, #stress-strain-curve, #abaqus #abaqustutorial #homogenization 👨‍👩‍👦 CM Video Insider -------------------------------------- Sign up here: https://cmvig.cmvideos.org/ to become a CM Video Insider (100% free) to access modelling resources, advanced workshops, bonus trainings, behind the scene contents and regular CM Video updates.
