Tourists who come to Russia often have difficulty communicating if they do not speak Russian, because Russians are shy to speak English to them. Why is this so? I am glad that more and more Russians are learning foreign languages, but when I was at school 20 years ago, unfortunately, we were not taught to communicate in English.
