Cabinet assembly with VB fittings and DrillJig VB from Hettich, incl. drilling cabinet side panels

This video shows how to prepare top and bottom panels for assembly to cabinet sided panels using a DrillJig VB drilling jig. The DrillJig VB drilling template for dowels (included in the set) is used for preparation of the side panels, positioning dowels according to System 32 standard measurements often used in in manual furniture production. Before drilling the holes for the VB connecting fittings, the DrillJig VB drilling jig must be set up to meet individual requirements of the furniture construction. Basic settings depend on the panel thickness and on the chosen VB connecting fitting: Set the drilling depth and the hole distance to the top / bottom panel's edge according to the figures documented in the furniture fitting catalogues. The red sideway stops to either side of the DrillJig VB can quickly be set, always positioning the VB connecting fittings 37mm from the side panel's edge. Drilling is very quick and simple. The basic jig settings remain the same as you proceed drilling for each VB connecting fitting: Set the sideway stop; position and tightly fix the DrillJig VB drilling jig to the top / bottom panel, then drill the cup holes using a standard power drill and the hexagon bit. The drilling template for dowels is a perfect tool to position the dowels on the cabinet side panels. It has two sides, one for 16 mm and one for 19 / 22 mm top / bottom panels. The sideway stops again position the drilling positions 37 mm from the panel's edge. For all VB and dowel positions not measuring 37mm from the panel's edge, the stops cannot be used. These drilling positions must be marked on the top, bottom and side panels in order to position the DrillJig VB drilling templates. Once all cup holes have been drilled, the VB connecting fittings can be inserted and the top / bottom panel can be assembled with the side panels.
