Martin Scorsese Reveals his Filmmaking Inspiration (1993)

On 1 November 1993, Martin Scorsese sat down with ITN's Nick Glass to discuss the life and legacy of Federico Fellini. One of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, Fellini died on 31 October 1993 aged 73. Scorcese discussed the great influence Fellini had on him as a young film student, Fellini's unique style of filmmaking, and getting to know and work with Fellini in the later years of his life. Scorsese described Fellini as "one of the great masters" and his death as "a tragedy". Some 30 years after this interview was recorded, Scorsese is himself aged 81. His latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, tells the story of a series of murders of members of the Osage Nation after the discovery of oil on tribal land in 1920s Oklahoma.
