Distillation column - McCabe Thiele Benzene-Toluene Problem
A Benzene - Toluene mix containing 42 mol% Benzene is to be separated in multiple steps. In the 1st step, a distillation column with a reboiler and a partial condenser is to be used to separate the flow into one holding 70 mol% Benzene and another holding 10 mol% Benzene. Find number of trays needed. When feed is 75% saturated vapour, that is q=0.25. Reflux ratio is 1.5 and Tray efficiency is 40%. Also, find minimum Reflux ratio and feed location.
