Summary: As the primary source of color in plants, far surpassing physical colors and fluorescent molecules (bioluminescence, on the other hand, either did not appear in plants or disappeared during evolution), and organized into a vast array of forms, we will explore the biological functions of plant pigments and how they have evolved. This presentation will cover a large majority of the biochemical families of plant pigments and demonstrate the immense diversity of functions they can perform for plants.
