The special school in the city of Dubno, which is under the jurisdiction of the Rivne Regional Council, wants to be moved to Verba. Talks about this have been going on all summer. The children who study here need special educational conditions, so the parents immediately sounded the alarm, because this move will cause a lot of problems and inconvenience for them. First of all, - the parents say, - they are very satisfied with the work of the Special School in Dubno, because they find an approach to all children here, defectologists work and there is even a hippotherapy group, and moving to an unfamiliar school will negatively affect the psycho-emotional state of the children. As an example, a resident of Dubno Oksana Mazur told the story of her 15-year-old daughter Angelina, who, having been born paralyzed, began attending this school at the age of 4. The parents wrote appeals to various authorities, and also to the educational ombudsman, where they received support, as well as to the Rivne Regional Council, under whose jurisdiction the Special School is located, where they were assured in June that they would assist in a positive solution to the problem. However, in early August, an inspection of the institution was held, where the readiness of the Special School for the new school year was determined, and a commission from the Rivne Regional Administration's Department of Education found a number of shortcomings. The institution says that they have already corrected the indicated shortcomings and are waiting for a new commission, which will determine whether the Special School will operate in the city of Dubno. Parents say, not on camera, that they are being put under psychological pressure and lured to the educational institution in Verba. At the same time, three communities, whose children attend the preschool group at the Special School, have declared their support and will allocate funds for the children's education. In the written response that we received from the Rivne OVA, they note that the school is recognized as “not ready” and list its shortcomings and advantages of the Specialized School in the village of Verba. Currently, there is no final decision on the format of the functioning of the Special School in the city of Dubno. Parents will continue to fight to defend the right of their children to study at the institution, they say, if they are not heard, they are preparing to apply even to the court and international authorities. The Special School in the city of Dubno has existed since 1940, first as an orphanage, then received the status of an auxiliary and special one. Last year, more than a hundred children and 15 preschoolers with various developmental disorders studied here.
