My Facebook page is:   / gjukulele   June is drawing to a close, and it's time to wrap up the documentary of my trip to Ukulele Love Island in Japan at the beginning of the month. This trip included a visit to a Japanese elementary school, thanks to the organizer Naoka's school promotion; Also, because Taira is a middle school student, it had another special aspect—I participated in his middle school sports day. These two experiences are things you can't get during regular sightseeing, and I found them very unique. Another special thing was that a friend who works at the Fengzhou Market took us inside. As a wholesale market, there were security guards at every corner, making it difficult for ordinary people to get in. Inside the wholesale market, we saw a completely different level of order and cleanliness compared to fruit and vegetable markets in Taiwan. We also bought some very cheap Japanese loquats and blueberries... However, because there are many details that are inconvenient to share in videos and photos, I'll just describe them in words. For example, the Japanese junior high school sports day was truly a lively event, with a 100-person centipede race, tug-of-war, large-scale relays, and a 100-person group jump rope competition, various fun competitions and activities (but no school fair, which made ours even more lively). Some of these were things we experienced when we were young, but seeing the orderly and unified atmosphere of the students in their society was still eye-opening. I shared this with everyone in a previous post. Today's video begins with me hanging out with Taira, who had a music performance at a Hawaiian restaurant. We joined the Moriyama couple from Yokohama for the fun, and even played a couple of songs together. This was an event the day after a music festival, and it's very music-related, so I wanted to share it with everyone. The following part, while not entirely music-related, is related to my personal situation and an interesting cultural aspect, so I decided to share that too. It's about "fulfilling a vow." Last year, when I was hospitalized, a Japanese friend helped me obtain a health amulet from a shrine. So when he came to Japan this year and saw that I had mostly recovered, he reminded me to remember to go and fulfill my vow. Thus began a day trip of 300 kilometers round trip. Since I've driven in Japan more than once or twice, I'd like to share some experiences from this trip. Then I recorded the part about visiting the shrine to fulfill my vow (I didn't record the part about throwing money, but I did, haha). Today I also got up very early to go to a temple in Taiwan to pray. This is because a friend helped me pray before my surgery, so I wanted to say hello and let them know I'm okay. (Regularly...) I don't usually go to temples to pray or ask for blessings from gods of wealth; I almost never do. Perhaps it's because I'm a lucky and happy person. But when I was feeling helpless due to my health condition, I couldn't help but think about things from a scientific perspective. Of course, I eventually returned to science. Many things we might not have cared about, believed in, or valued much before, but because of the good intentions of your friends, they become more important. That's how I feel. I don't know how my friends view these things. However, this day's self-driving trip in Japan to fulfill a vow was still interesting. So I wanted to share it with you, and also record the scenery along the way and on the return trip. Let's take a walk through the lens!
