The Cost of Leaving My Religion
This has been on my heart for a while. Leaving the religion I grew up in changed everything for me. Inside the Jehovah’s Witness community, the cost of choosing your own path is incredibly high. For me, it meant living a double life for years, dealing with a fear of abandonment, and ultimately losing my family. My dad didn’t come to my wedding, and family members cut me off completely because of who I chose to marry. In this video, I’m sharing the timeline of how I got here—from navigating toxic, racist dynamics in a past relationship to finding real, unconditional love and building a life with my husband today. Leaving ruined the life I knew, but it allowed me to finally build an authentic one. Thank you for being here and listening to a piece of my story. If you’ve gone through something similar, I see you.
