Thirty-nine-time world trial champion Toni Bou has added another historic feat to his legendary record by breaking a spectacular Guinness World Record in his hometown of Piera, near Barcelona. The event, organized in partnership with Repsol, became a true local celebration, drawing hundreds of residents to the iconic Toni Bou roundabout, where a statue of the rider has stood since 2013. The monumental challenge, supervised on-site by official Guinness World Records judges to certify the record's validity, consisted of continuously jumping over the greatest number of aligned barrels while relying solely on the rear wheel of his motorcycle. The previous world record stood at 36 barrels, but Bou once again demonstrated his insatiable pursuit of excellence. After a demanding day of training on Tuesday that took a heavy physical toll, the Spanish rider decided to give it his all from the start and broke the record on his very first of four attempts, achieving a mark of 52 jumps that sparked collective euphoria among his countrymen. Far from being satisfied, and after a less successful second attempt, Toni Bou reached his peak in the third round, setting the definitive all-time record with 53 consecutive barrels. At the end of the event, the athlete told the media of the great relief he felt after his initial success, given the pressure, nerves, and the steepness of the terrain. He is now focusing his efforts on recovering from his shoulder injury in preparation for the Andorra competition, aiming to win his fortieth world title next October, coinciding with his 40th birthday.
