It was built in the 12th century and remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. From 1904, it was no longer used as a mill, but as a country residence. Owned by the writers Louis Aragon and Elsa Triolet in the second half of the 20th century, the Villeneuve Mill became a museum after their deaths, the Maison Elsa Triolet-Aragon. The space, consisting of a museum-apartment, exhibition, conference, and performance spaces, is dedicated to the memory of the two authors, to research thanks to its 30,000-volume library, and to supporting contemporary creation.
